| Does Your Designer Bag Define Your Politics? |

When you think about it- what you wear says everything about you. Are you conservative or liberal with your colors? Do you wear revealing clothing or do you button up to the collar? Would you wear a designer handbag for PETA or perhaps the National Rifle Association? Perhaps you wear only clothes that are on sale at the store closest to your house but if you are up to date on trends and political information, you should know that your clothing speaks louder than a megaphone on some social scenes. If you are wondering if your favorite handbag designer politically swings one way or the other, you may have a hard time finding out unless they are openly admitting their views. But, a ccording to Agenda Inc. a global consulting firm based in San Francisco, specializing in innovative luxury strategy released the political viewpoints of several big name designers. Political views were decided base on candidates who received money donated by a specific designer. The results found that if you wore Louis Vuitton, you may be announcing you were an Obama fan as research found that Louis Vuitton put $1,250 behind Obama. An employee of Valentino gave $2,300 to McCain which could say that someone who wears Valentino is a republican. Diana Von Furstenberg and Nicole Miller donated thousands to the Clinton campaign and they were not alone. Several top name designers gave hundreds and some thousands to Hilary Clinton. If you don’t want the world to know that you have chosen, you could play it safe by wearing a Gucci who gave $500 to Giuliani and $500 to Obama. Wanting to represent a liberal voice while looking stylish? Even though Dennis Kucinich wasn’t noted as a receiver of designer donations, you could rock an independent designer’s bag, who may be on their way to launching their own line. If you are the kind of person that wants to be stylish, yet super vocal about their political view, wear your Fendi, your Dolce and Gabbana and your Coach purses but wear them with a your favorite political candidate button attached to your designer bag. You may not believe that you are what you wear but any way you slice it, your designer handbag says a lot about your values and your agenda. No matter your political views don't forget to vote. Not voting would be so out of style. Melissa Peterman |
