Elena Kagan, a short-list contender to be President Obama's next Supreme Court nominee, has long been one of the nation's top legal eagles.
Before that, Kagan was a whip-smart kid from Manhattan's upper West Side whose family has been a longtime mainstay at Hunter College High School, one of the city's finest public schools.
Kagan, 49, graduated from the highly selective school in 1977, in one of its last all-girl classes. Her mom, Gloria, was a teacher at Hunter's elementary school for years, and Kagan's brother, Irving, remains a social studies teacher at the high school.
"Elena was raised very much in the tradition of the 'fearless Hunter girl' and was taught to be ambitious," her brother recently told the school's paper.

A lawsuit has been filed by the Nicollette Sheridan, Former Wisteria Lane resident against the producer of the Desperate Housewives Marc Cherry and ABC. She claimed that she was physically assaulted by Cherry and upon her complaint she was dismissed from the show. The suit was filed on Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court in which assault and wrongful termination by Cherry and TV network ABC was alleged. The suit was filed a year after electrocution killed off Nicollette Sheridan’s character Edie of “Desperate Housewives”. She said that after assaulting her on the set, Cherry disposed off her character. In the suit she alleges wrongful termination, discrimination based on sex, gender violence, sexual orientation and age, assault and battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

HOUSTON, TEXAS (GaeaTimes.com)- A family spokesperson has revealed that former first lady Barbara Bush has been admitted to a hospital for undergoing certain routine tests on the advise of the family doctor. It has come to light that the 84 year old ex-first lady was hospitalized after she had been unwell for a period of about a week, which resulted in her being admitted to the medical facility.
